Key : Green Urban Space, Historical Building, Conservation, Social Approach
The ministry complex designed by Suyudi should be classified as a cultural heritage site, as it is a prime example of early modern Indonesian architecture. The proposed design aims to restore the original sections of the buildings to their former state by replacing the HVAC systems to ensure they do not disrupt the architectural design. New buildings will replicate the existing horizontal lines. The parking structure will be surrounded by potted plants to help absorb pollutants.
The main plaza, consisting of a grassy lawn, will open towards the main road to symbolize openness. This design allows the public to gather and express themselves without disrupting traffic or needing to enter the buildings. The mosque will be integrated into the landscape, symbolizing the complex’s neutrality and cultural significance, reflecting Indonesia’s ethnic and religious diversity.
