Key : Water Sensitive Development, Archaeological Issue on Historical Conservation, Social Approach
This proposal demonstrates how the temples in Prambanan can be revitalized as active sites for religious ceremonies. Extensive commercialization is placed across the river, ensuring that the temples retain a tranquil atmosphere within an archaeological and religious park. This approach allows for flexible commercial spaces that are separate from the sacred area. Nevertheless, the commercial facilities are designed to appear as linear landscapes from above, oriented towards views of the main temple. A new open-air theater is also proposed across the river, inspired by ancient temples, to serve as a functional venue for performances and a vantage point for viewing the temples. This separation allows the commercial facilities to operate into the night, highlighted by the illuminated temples.
