Key : Low Energy Building, Local Material, Climatic Approach
This villa is one of 100 designed by 100 architects invited from around the world. Located in a region with extreme temperature differences between summer and winter, the building’s design has two-thirds of it embedded in the ground and one-third above the surface. Heating in the winter is provided through geothermal energy. Cold northern winds are blocked by trees, while light is maximized with openings facing south, as it is located in the northern hemisphere. Rainwater and snowmelt are collected in a dedicated area. The interior spaces are designed to be usable throughout all seasons.
